Verdict

BRIGADOON won as he liked by 10 lengths over C&D last week and a 6lb penalty is unlikely to stop him from going in again, if those exertions have not left a mark. Deep Resolve also arrives on the back of a win here, although that came over 1m4f, and he would appear to be the main danger to the selection. Eurato has been knocking on the door of late and he should pick up some more prize money today.

Verdict

BRIGADOON did the job in emphatic style over C&D last week and, with Silvestre De Sousa again doing the steering, he will take plenty of stopping under a penalty. Deep Resolve is 3-6 at this course but this is tougher than the race he won over 1½m here earlier this month, and the selection may have more to fear from the consistent Eurato and Mister Bob, who is eased in grade.

3/1, career best when winning 10-runner claimer at this course (8f) 7 days ago, comfortably. Carries penalty and every chance of going in again if coping with this step up in trip.

Verdict

It may have only been a claimer that MUQARRED won over 1m here last week but he beat some similarly rated horses on that occasion whilst giving them weight. That said, the step up in trip is an obvious concern and stamina is far from assured. Busy Street put in an improved effort last time out and he could be the main beneficiary if the selection fails to stay the trip. Tatting and The Lock Master are others with valid claims.

Verdict

MUQARRED appeared very much at home on this surface when landing a 1m claimer in decisive fashion last week and, assuming this new trip is within his stamina range, the 5-y-o can make it 2-2 at this course. Busy Street found just the one too good on his recent C&D reappearance and could be the one to capitalise should Muqarred find this trip a bridge too far. The Lock Master is best of the rest.

Twice-raced filly. 66/1, last of 7 in maiden at this C&D 12 days ago.

Verdict

Magical Forest looks badly exposed now for Marco Botti but she was considered good enough to go to Meydan for a Group 3 and deserves respect on that basis alone, despite only beating one home. WHOSYOURHOUSEMATE might be open to more improvement after an impressive Lingfield debut third 66 days ago and her pedigree suggests that improvement could be forthcoming, being a half-brother to five winners including Sky Khan and Starlit Cantata. Testbourne has an interesting pedigree and would be of interest if supported in the betting.

Verdict

WHOSYOURHOUSEMATE shaped nicely when third on his introduction at Lingfield in January and, likely to be more street-wise this time, he gets the nod. The clear main danger is Magical Forest, who made the frame on each of her 7 starts as a juvenile and this is a far more realistic assignment than that which she faced in a Meydan Group 3 last month. Newcomer Testbourne is one to note in the betting.

Promising type. Career best when winning 7-runner handicap at this C&D (11/8) 6 days ago, keeping on well. Likely there's more to come and he's hard to oppose under a penalty.

Verdict

FIERY SPICE has landed his last three races with relative ease and he looks tough to oppose once more after proving himself on this type of surface in two of those victories. He was hanging left late on last time and needs to prove that won't be a future issue, but he should have too much class for this bunch despite a 6lb rise. Fresh could be the best time to catch Camargue, while first-time blinkers and the booking of Silvestre De Sousa should spark improvement from Erissimus Maximus.

Verdict

There could be even better to come from FIERY SPICE, who continued his theme of race-by-race improvement when striking over C&D last week, making it 2-2 at this venue in the process. He is confidently expected to take this step up to 0-85 company in his stride and complete the four-timer. Erissimus Maximus acquitted himself well on his sole previous visit here and is next best ahead of Camargue.

Course maiden scorer last spring who notched first win since in 5-runner handicap at Newcastle (1m) 12 days ago. 5 lb rise means more required if she's to follow up in this stronger race.

Verdict

Sir Billy Wright remains in good form and ran well to finish third despite a 4lb rise for an earlier win here last time out, while Dusky Dawn arrives in a buoyant mood after an impressive recent 1m success at Newcastle. A drop in distance might find out Alan Swinbank's charge and OUTER SPACE could be the one to beat. He was a narrow second to Lincoln entrant George Cinq last time out and a repeat of that would probably suffice. War Department could have been better drawn but should run his usual solid race.

Verdict

WAR DEPARTMENT and Twin Appeal are closely matched on recent Newcastle form behind a progressive sort and could be the pair to focus on, with the former taken to continue his excellent form of late and notch a second win of the month. Outer Space ran well here last week and is expected to be on the premises again, while Supersta could also figure if taking to this surface.

Last of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 25/1) 48 days ago.

Verdict

Crosse Fire returned to the winner's enclosure last week over C&D and this consistent sort is likely to be on the premises once again but preference is for DARK PROFIT, who outran her odds when runner-up here over 7f earlier this month and the return to 6f looks a positive on that performance. African Blessing is lightly-raced and looks more than capable of further improvement.

Verdict

MESHARDAL came down a long way in the weights after a winless 2016 and shaped as if he's returned in much better heart when third at Newcastle at the start of this month. He gets the nod but there are plenty of possible dangers, headed by African Blessing, who is a lightly-raced sprinter from a good yard who surely has more to offer, and Bring On A Spinner.

Verdict

BONNIE ARLENE improved for the step up in trip on her last start as a two-year-old when runner-up to Snookered at Leicester and has the assistance of Sharna Armstrong's 7lb claim in the saddle on his return to action. Topmeup ran with credit on her return over C&D earlier this month and is more than entitled to take a step forward from that effort, while State Residence could have more to offer on just his fifth start.

Verdict

TOPMEUP made a solid start for new handler David Evans when third over C&D 12 days ago and can build on that and notch a first career success. State Residence was better than the result (met trouble) on his handicap debut and remains with potential for the David O'Meara team, while Bonnie Arlene was placed off similar marks towards the end of her juvenile campaign.
