Has completed only 2 of his 6 starts under Rules, again let down by jumping at Huntingdon this month. Drops in trip, but comes with risks attached.

Verdict

Ben Haslam brings former Nicky Henderson inmate CUP FINAL down the A1 from his Middleham base for his first attempt at chasing, having potentially reached the limit of his potential over hurdles. The former Punchestown Festival winner should be hard to beat up against only one rival, Spoilt Rotten, who can keep the selection honest if in the same form as his Leicester second when only half a length behind Bivouac.

Verdict

Useful-hurdler CUP FINAL should prove too classy for Spoilt Rotten, and granted a clear round of jumping, can make a winning chase debut.

Veteran who's on a long losing streak and very difficult to see that ending from miles out of the handicap.

Verdict

RIDDLESTOWN escapes punishment for yet another course and distance victory last time in a conditional jockeys' race and the veteran can take advantage of the same mark once again at his beloved Nottinghamshire venue. Running Wolf was third in a useful Huntingdon contest, with the winner racking up a hat-trick since, and could have more to come, while previous C&D victor Thoonavolla was third here last time and has been dropped 2lb by the handicapper which can see him play a part here.

Verdict

THOONAVOLLA shaped as if retaining his ability whilst also suggesting he should come on for the run when third over C&D recently, and he gets the nod to prove as much from a 2 lb lower mark. Course-specialist Riddlestown and likely improver Jaunty Thor head the dangers.

Little form of late and no appeal from 2 stone out of the weights.

Verdict

Caroline Bailey's Elkstone has been performing admirably of late with a string of placed efforts, however, may have to settle for minor honours once again with a bold bid expected from CHESTNUT BEN. Peter Wink's veteran is only 2lb higher than when scoring at Wetherby in March and wasn't beaten far when third behind a progressive chaser of Paul Nicholls' at Market Rasen last time. Gwili Spar was travelling well when unseating his jockey at Plumpton last time out and could have more to come on his reappearance.

Verdict

CHESTNUT BEN arrives in decent form and that may prove decisive in this field. Long-standing maiden Elkstone can place again.

Has little chance based on what he achieved under Rules in the past and was last of 3 in a point recently.

Verdict

Galway Jack blotted his copybook when pulling up in search of a three-timer at Ludlow last time and has it all to prove now so it may be worth looking at Justin Landy's KNOCKLONG, who made a winning start to life in hunter chases last time at Catterick. He has won every time he has managed to complete in the pointing field and must come under serious consideration here. Decade Player found life too tough last time when competing in the Aintree Foxhunters and is another who needs consideration back down at an easier level, while Hindon Road is a consistent pointer and also respected.

Verdict

KNOCKLONG is unbeaten in his last 9 completed starts, including when scoring back under Rules at Catterick recently, so it's hard to see past him extending his terrific run at the expense of Galway Jack, who is a match for the selection on form but has a tame display to put behind him. Hindon Road is the pick of the remainder.

Had plenty of chances and belatedly opened account at Doncaster (2m) in January. Unable to land a blow twice since but should be competitive, especially if they go a sound pace.

Had plenty of chances and belatedly opened account at Doncaster (2m) in January. Unable to land a blow twice since but should be competitive, especially if they go a sound pace.

Verdict

BACK TO BALLOO took a step in the right direction when third over 2m at Uttoxeter earlier in the month and is entitled to build on that performance from this 2lb lower mark. Hear The Chimes has been given a chance by the assessor and appears well treated on his best efforts in this sphere, while Steel City faded in the closing stages when fifth over 2m2f at Exeter last time and could also take a forward step now cutting back in trip.

Verdict

THEREDBALLOON has had plenty of time on the sidelines throughout his career, but he is a capable performer fresh and has been given a chance by the handicapper if retaining a portion of his old ability. He is chanced in the hope there's strength behind him in the ring, with Peppay Le Pugh and Back To Balloo feared most.

Ran with promise in one of her bumpers and left previous efforts over hurdles behind when staying-on third on Kempton handicap debut 17 days ago.

Verdict

Dalkadam looks to be coming back to the boil and may be able to improve on his Fontwell second over 2m1f last time now stepped back up to this longer trip and fitted with a first-time visor. The one to beat, however, looks to be SUNNYTAHLIATEIGAN, who is unpenalised for his Fontwell victory in a conditional jockeys' race and therefore appears nicely handicapped at present. Jonjo O'Neill's Pongo Twistleton likely has more to offer over timber and could also take a hand.

Verdict

SUNNYTAHLIATEIGAN escapes a penalty for his Fontwell handicap debut win last week and is probably the one to beat, particularly as the extra yardage should suit. Pongo Twistleton is surely better than he showed on his Wetherby handicap debut over Christmas and is a possible threat back from a break, while Betterlatethanneva took a step in the right direction last time.

Verdict

Nicky Henderson representative COLONIAL DREAMS sets the standard on his Kempton second last month and appears to have been found a suitable opening. The main danger may be Jonjo O'Neill's newcomer Not At All, who fetched 150,000 euros as a yearling. Fellow newcomer Paddy Boss, who represents Alan King, is another that figures prominently on the shortlist as his stable can ready one on debut.

Verdict

COLONIAL DREAMS took a big step forward when second at Kempton and a repeat of that form could well be good enough, though Not At All and Paddy Boss are both interesting newcomers.
